Online and In-Person Tutoring
Much of professional tutoring is currently headed in the direction of online tutoring and for good reason. It is both effective and extremely convenient. Online tutoring uses internet-based video and audio telecommunication combined with an online whiteboard. The whiteboard allows my students and I to simultaneously see and edit a common workspace to which we add sketches, graphs, equations, text as well as problems that have been assigned by the student's instructor. I also do in-person tutoring in the Little Rock, AR area.
Free Consultation
The first session that we do is always free up to an hour and a half. We can spend as much of that time as you would like talking about the kind of help you would like or diving straight in to the material so you can get a feel for how I teach. We can also talk by voice beforehand about the kind of help you are seeking at no charge.
Phone & Email Support
I'm happy to help active students with quick questions through email. Students are encouraged to send ahead assignments that they would like coaching on during our session. I am very flexible about scheduling for online sessions. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, just let me know. Please give 1–24 hours' notice.
High School and College Algebra and Pre-Calculus
I have been working with students in these high school math areas since I began private tutoring in 2015. The skills taught at this levels are ones that I used daily during my time in graduate school as a physics researcher and teaching assistant. I am comfortable with these subjects and how to make them relatable to high-schoolers.
Calculus, Differential Equations, Vector Calculus
I have been tutoring calculus and advanced calculus topics since 2016. The concepts and methods taught in these courses also figured heavily in my physics undergraduate and graduate education and research. Most of my experience is working with college-aged students, and I have had many years to adjust my style to suit the needs of students at this stage in their life journey. I have also worked with high school students on calculus including AP calculus as well.
High School and Lower Division College Physics
Introductory physics is the most effective subject that I tutor. I have had several years of experience assistant teaching this level of physics both for physics and engineering majors and non-physics or engineering majors (algebra-based physics) at the college level. I have also tutored many high school students in physics including AP physics since I started in 2015.

Upper Division Physics
I do get requests for help with electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, waves, advanced classical dynamics and similar topics usually seen in the third and fourth years of a college physics or engineering major. These are subjects I have studied at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and I am happy to help students with these studies at no extra charge as a way of supporting those who choose to study at this level. I like to prepare extra for these sessions, so please give me at least a week's advance notice if you would like help in one of these areas. Setting a regular appointment is also helpful. Please include in your request the relevant page numbers of any texts that you are studying and attach a scan (a cell phone picture is fine) of specific problems you would like help with.
As a Tutor, I Do Not:

Complete Homework
I'm happy to coach students on their homework, and this can be an excellent way to "learn by doing." However, I don't give answers, and it is important for students to spend time working through homework problems on their own. Please do not offer to pay me to do your homework for you. I take academic integrity very seriously.
Make Decisions for You
Please do not ask me to assess whether you or your child should prepare for and take a particular class or standardized test or to estimate the score you will receive if you do. Only you know the amount of time and the level of effort you can commit to prepping for the exam or studying for the class. If you decide to go for it, I am more than happy to do everything in my power to help you succeed.
